Introduction to the Scenic Area

The Gulongxia Scenic Area in Qingyuan City, Guangdong Province, is located in the mysterious Tropic of Cancer and the vast mountains of northern Guangdong, at the junction of Guangdong, Hunan, and Guangxi provinces (regions). The scenic area is 68 kilometers away from Guangzhou city center, 73 kilometers away from Baiyun Airport, and over 200 kilometers away from Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions. Its location and transportation are convenient, especially with the opening of the first Qingyuan Maglev Tourism Line, which has better integrated the scenic area into the integrated rail "1-hour transportation circle" network system of the Greater Bay Area. The South Asian tropical monsoon has created scenic spots with no severe cold in winter and no scorching heat in summer, with an average annual temperature of 20 ℃ -22 ℃ and a forest coverage rate of 95%. The complex and diverse landforms, climates, and soils have formed an ecosystem dominated by forests where animals and plants coexist and compete for growth, forming the species gene pool of rare animals and plants in southern China. The poem and painting scene of the Hunan Guangdong Fold Belt, which revitalizes the land of China, is well explained by the phrase 'Ten thousand mountains surge like waves, springs chirp and streams flow. The scenic area combines its unique natural canyons, rivers, forests, Lingnan culture, Yao Zhuang and other ethnic cultures, intangible cultural heritage, drifting culture, dragon culture, etc., and cleverly designs tourism projects such as canyon drifting, mountain sports, ecological science popularization, forest health preservation, and educational research. The scenic area was officially put into operation in May 2007 and was awarded the national AAAA level tourist attraction in 2015. At present, it is a national sports tourism demonstration base, a designated drifting track by the General Administration of Sport of China, and the only tourist attraction in Guangdong Province for the Beijing Olympic torch relay. The Gulongxia Scenic Area is committed to cultivating new quality productivity in cultural tourism, health and wellness, and creating characteristic tourism projects with high technological content, low resource consumption, and zero environmental pollution. In 2023, a total of 1.6167 million tourists were received, including approximately 88300 foreign tourists. The scenic area has become a popular destination for people in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area for health, tourism, and leisure.

Youran River Valley

The verdant river water, unique red bridges, and drifting fishing boats in Gulong Gorge, combined with the diffuse mist, create a colorful watercolor painting step by step. Gulong Grand Canyon

The Gulong Grand Canyon has formed a canyon due to geological changes, and it has been continuously eroded along the fault surface by flowing water, forming numerous unique stone landscapes such as Gulong Cave, Damo Face Wall Stones, and Fairy Dressing Table within the canyon. The cliffs on both sides of the canyon are facing each other, with many rapids and rapids, a forest of strange rocks, a deep valley, springs and waterfalls cascading, cliff trees slanting, and strange grass everywhere. The characteristics of the canyon scenery can be summarized in ten words: peculiar, hidden, beautiful, clever, secluded, vast, shocking, dangerous, comprehensive, and ancient. The deepest part of the canyon has a height difference of 378 meters, and the narrowest part only allows two people to run side by side. Due to the deep and steep walls of the gorge, the trees block the sun, and many parts of the valley are not exposed to direct sunlight all year round. Intangible Cultural Heritage Market

Xiangxi Qintai

The Xiangxi Qin Valley is hidden deep in the dense forests of the canyon and is the most beautiful part of the Gulong Gorge scenic area. Flying waterfalls, flowing clouds, and emerald pools. Gulong Waterfall Group

The Gulong Gorge Waterfall Group is 810 meters long, with a nine level continuous drop of 263 meters. International Drifting

Qingyuan City - China's Drifting Town (General Administration of Sport of China), the Gulongxia Drifting Track is designated by the General Administration of Sport of China as a drifting track. It has hosted multiple international natural water drifting competitions and has been praised by the industry as "China's Drifting View Qingyuan, Qingyuan Drifting View Gulong". The Gulongxia Drifting Track has a total distance of 6063 meters, a drop of 378 meters, and a maximum speed of 72 kilometers per hour. It is the longest, highest drop, and fastest drifting project on the Guangdong track. The average slope is 9.5%, surpassing the 7.5% average slope of the world's largest canyon, the Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon. It is extremely rare and rare.

The Gu Long Gorge Scenic Area is a National AAAA-level tourist attraction, a national sports tourism demonstration base, an international rafting competition venue, and a designated track by the General Administration of Sport of China. It serves as a new landmark for tourism in northern Guangdong. The Gu Long Gorge Scenic Area is actively striving to become a National AAAAA-level tourist attraction. Located in Binjiang Canyon, Qingxin District, Qingyuan City, it is 68 kilometers away from downtown Guangzhou, at the intersection of the Guangqing Expressway, Qinglian Expressway (Xuguan Expressway), and Shan-Zhan Expressway.

Beneath the towering peaks with a kilometer of height difference, the Gu Long Grand Canyon integrates waterfalls, deep pools, peculiar rocks, and jungles. Cliffs confront each other, strange peaks soar, silver waterfalls splash, the beaches are abundant, and the water is swift. The primitive rainforest covers the sky year-round, offering pleasant weather. The characteristics of the scenery can be summarized by ten words: "peculiar, hidden, charming, ingenious, secluded, vast, astonishing, perilous, comprehensive, ancient." The scenic area and its surroundings preserve 3,000 hectares of subtropical primeval forest, with a forest coverage rate of 95%. The concentration of negative oxygen ions reaches up to 10,000/cm3, making it a great place for refreshing lungs and clearing the mind.

The Qing Dynasty poet Yuan Mei once described the magnificent and profound scenery of the Gu Long Gorge Scenic Area as "thousands of mountains resembling surging waves, springs murmuring and streams flowing. Stepping on floating clouds, the scenery of pine waves is extraordinary."
